Examples of previous assignments:

– Reviewed a number of employment policies for an NHS Regulatory body based in London in order to meet legislative change. Updated model contracts of employment and generic staff handbooks to reflect national changes. An initial 3 month engagement extended to a 3 year placement as the interim Head of HR.
– Designed and delivered variety of training programs for a number of NHS Trusts to train senior medical staff in all aspects of performance management up to and including dismissal and management of appeals processes. Additionally trained senior medics in appraisal and job planning using the nationally approved frameworks.
– Investigated wide range of conduct and capability allegations as an independent investigator involving complaints of bullying & harassment, discrimination, whistle blowing, theft, fraud, sexual offences and blackmail. Clients include GP Surgeries (less than 10 staff) through to large NHS Trusts (in excess of 8000 staff) and national NHS Arms Length Bodies. Examples of these:
A) Investigation through to dismissal and successful defence at appeal of a Consultant Pathologist who was found to be responsible for a significant number of ‘never events’ at a District General Hospital. This also required the management of a ‘look back’ exercise of thousands of patients over a 6 year period.
B) Investigation of anonymous complaints made to the CQC about persistent bullying and mismanagement of a maternity unit which led to dismissal of the Head of Department.
C) Exoneration of a Consultant Radiologist accused of significant fraud (in excess of £140k) by the Trust’s retained auditors. The investigation demonstrated that poor understanding of the 2003 Consultant contract by the auditors had led to a flawed outcome: the Consultant was in fact owed in excess of £30k for out of hours work completed.
D) Investigation of allegations made by one Consultant against another of inciting racial hatred and religious discrimination resulting in disciplinary action being taken.
